Canadian Federal Election day will take place on Monday, September 20, by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s snap election request.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has called a snap request for the Canadian Federal Election day for the upcoming Monday. Trudeau has strong confidence in regaining the majority in the House of Commons. The Liberal Party leader’s risk will now be judged by Canadian voters.

The Conservative Party is within striking distance of Justin Trudeau’s Liberals. The Conservative Party seek to unseat the two-term prime minister.

The decision to conduct an election in the fourth wave of the pandemic enraged opposition politicians of all shades. Conservative leader Erin O’Toole delivered a message to people a few days before Justin Trudeau called a snap election: he didn’t want one. “Now’s not the time for an election,” he said. “We can all wait and go to the polls when it’s safe.” Furthermore, Erin O’Toole called it “reckless” and “irresponsible,” saying it was an example of Trudeau putting his “personal political objectives ahead of the well-being of thousands of people.”

But now, just days before the election on September 20, Mr. O’Toole is tied for the first position with Mr. Trudeau. It’s a significant move for the new Conservative leader, who has only been in office for a year. According to Abacus Data, 40% of Canadians didn’t know enough about Mr. O’Toole to develop an opinion on him at the start of the campaign. Mr. O’Toole has introduced himself to Canadians with a softer, more centrist style than his Conservative predecessors during the 35-day campaign. In addition, Mr. O’Toole has been outspoken in his support for LGBT rights, describing himself as “a pro-choice leader, period.”

What is the Most Likely Outcome of Elections?

It is clear that Trudeau and O’Toole are the two front-runners. However, according to most surveys, neither party has a chance of winning a majority of the 338 seats in the House of Commons. Trudeau, 49, was the youthful face of Canadian politics not long ago. In the 2015 election, he was the inexperienced leader of the Liberal Party, but now he has a six-year track record of upholding. After various scandals, his administration was reduced to a minority in 2019.
