Countries are reinstating various measures before the Christmas holidays due to the increase in cases and the rapid spread of the Omicron variant.

It has been announced that four weeks of full closure will be implemented in the Netherlands due to the Omicron variant. Prime Minister Mark Rutte said that a full shutdown will be implemented by January 14.

According to the measures announced, all shops and stores, beauty centers, barbershops, hairdressers, massage parlors, tattoo shops, cinemas, museums, theaters, amusement parks will be closed. Only places such as market, butcher, greengrocer, bakery, pharmacy, gas station where basic needs are provided will be open.

Schools will remain closed from December 20 to January 9, 2022. No events will be allowed until the full shutdown ends. A maximum of 2 guests will be accepted in the houses, and a maximum of 2 people can be together outside. On the 24th, 25th, and 26th of December, when the Christmas celebrations are held, a maximum of 4 guests will be allowed inside and outside the house on New Year’s Eve.

Additional Measures in Germany and France

Germany will impose a 2-week quarantine on travelers from the UK and will require a negative Covid-19 test upon entry. Similarly, France has introduced a travel restriction for travelers from England. Within the scope of the Kovid-19 health card application, a document showing that the vaccines have been completed is required at the entrances to restaurants, cafeterias, movie theaters, and museums.

As part of the new restrictions brought in Ireland, restaurants, bars, takeaway, and delivery services will close at 20:00, and there will be no indoor events after this time.
