Asian stocks are on the rise after Fed minutes
Asia-Pacific markets rose on Thursday as investors watched the market reaction to Fed minutes. Kospi rose 1.83 percent in South Korea, and the Kosdaq was up around 1.43 percent. Shares of Samsung Electronics rose 3.19 percent after the company released its earnings guidance for the second quarter of 2022. Profit increased from 12.57 trillion won a year ago to 14.1 trillion won ($10.8 billion) in the April-June quarter.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 1.44 percent, and the Topix index rose 1.39 percent. The S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.45%. MSCI’s largest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose 0.88 percent.
Chinese markets also rose. The Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.51 percent, and the Shenzhen Component gained around 1 percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index was one of the few losers in the region, losing 0.41 percent.
