Truss, who won the leadership race two months ago with 11 candidates, will become Britain’s third female prime minister.

It was announced that Truss would be the party chairman and the prime minister.
In the voting, 81 thousand 326 votes were cast for Truss and 60 thousand 399 votes for Altar. Thus, Truss won 57.3 percent of the votes. This rate was recorded as the lowest since the Conservative party began electing its leaders by voting.
Previous party leader Boris Johnson got 66.4 percent, David Cameron 67.6 percent, and Iain Duncan Smith 60.7 percent.
Truss promised to fight the energy crisis with determination.
The race for prime minister and the party leadership was fought between the country’s Foreign Minister Liz Truss and former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak.
The new prime minister faces a challenging economic environment due to high inflation, recession, and living standards that rising energy prices have suppressed.
According to Goldman Sachs, the country’s new prime minister will take over as inflation stands at 10.1 percent and approaches 20 percent for the first time since 1974.
Speaking to the BBC on Sunday, Truss said the Bank of England’s job was to contain inflation. “We must do everything we can to help people during this time,” she said.
Stating that she “strongly believes” in the central bank’s independence, Truss did not comment on whether she would support drastic interest rate hikes. Truss had earlier signaled that she favored reviewing the BOE’s mandate. Promising to help households and companies in the cost of living crisis, Truss promised £30 billion in tax cuts.
