According to polls in the second round of the French presidential election, President Emmanuel Macron has been re-elected.
The second round of the presidential election held in the country ended at 20:00 local time. President Macron received 58.2 percent of the vote, while his rival, the far-right Marine Le Pen, remained 41.8 percent.
The rate of those who did not participate in the elections was determined as 28.2 percent. This was recorded as the highest rate since 1969.
The Constitutional Council will announce the official results on 27 April.
In the 2017 presidential election, Macron surpassed Le Pen and was elected president with 66.06 percent of the votes. Le Pen received 33.9 percent of the vote.
