Asian stock markets started the day with a mixed course.
Asia-Pacific shares were mixed on Wednesday after the Dow Jones Industrial Average. S&P 500 posted third-day losses in the US.
Chinese markets also fell. The Shenzhen Component led losses regionally, down 1.4 percent. The Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.72 percent.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index fell 0.92 percent, while the Hang Seng Tech index fell 1.8 percent. Electric vehicle maker Xpeng fell more than 12 percent after reporting a larger-than-expected quarterly loss.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 dropped 0.33 percent, giving up early gains, and the Topix index fell partially. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.67 percent, while South Korea’s Kospi rose 0.11 percent and Kosdaq 0.22 percent.
