New epidemic measures will be implemented in the Minhang region, where 2 million people live.
While global markets were relaxed with China’s loosening of epidemic measures, the new decision from Shanghai shook the markets. In the Minhang region of China’s financial center Shanghai, which has a population of 2 million, new quarantine measures have been introduced.
Tests will be applied to residents on June 11, according to the government’s announcement on its WeChat, and the measures will be lifted after the tests are completed.
In Shanghai, where quarantine measures were implemented due to the Kovid-19 epidemic triggered by the Omicron variant in China, life in most of the city returned to normal as of June 1. In the city with a population of more than 25 million, the curfew was lifted for 22.5 million people in regions with no spread in the last 14 days.
