China Fines Alibaba and Tencent 500.000 Yuan
China’s market regulator stated that it will fine Alibaba Group, Tencent Holdings-backed China Literature, and Shenzhen Hive Box 500,000 yuan (US$76,464.29) per company for not reporting deals properly for anti-trust reviews.
After the penalty, Alibaba’s shares fell by 3 percent in Hong Kong, while Tencent’s shares fell by 3.2 percent.
After reviewing deals between the companies, including Alibaba’s deal with Intime Retail Group Co Ltd, China Literature’s acquisition of New Classics Media, and Shenzhen Hive Box’s acquisition of China Post Smart Logistics, the State Administration of Market Regulation (SAMR) said it had taken the decision.
China Literature did not report the News Classics Media it acquired in October 2018, while Alibaba did not report the 73.79 percent stake it acquired from Retail Group Co.
Hive Box, on the other hand, did not report properly while taking over its rival in 2020.
The regulator said in the statement that:
“Investment and takeovers are important means for the development and growth of internet companies. The above-mentioned companies have a large influence in the industry, carry out many investments and takeovers, have specialized legal teams, and should be familiar with the regulations governing M&A. Their failure to actively declare has a relatively severe impact.”
First Covid-19 Vaccines Were Delivered Today to the 145 Vaccination Centers in the US
General Gus Perna, one of the leaders of the White House vaccination program stated that today’s first coronavirus vaccines were delivered to the vaccination centers.
On Sunday, as the nation’s pandemic deaths reached the terrifying new landmark of 300,000, the first of many freezer-packed Covid-19 vaccine vials made their way to distribution sites across the United States.
The expert believes that with the start of vaccination, the demand for the vaccine will grow and there is a risk that they will try to make money on this.
At the same time, 425 and 66 centers with equipment for storing it at very low temperatures, respectively, will receive the vaccine on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A spokesman for the administration of President Donald Trump said that the transport of three million doses of the vaccine has already begun. The first stage of vaccine supplies will end on December 16. All states will receive the Covid-19 vaccine, Perna said. The general also expressed his conviction that the distribution of the vaccine throughout the country would be 100% safe.
According to the latest data, 16.5 million cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in the United States, of which 9.6 million have recovered and almost 305 thousand have died. The country leads the world in the number of infected people, in their increase, as well as in the number of Covid tests.
Donald Trump: ‘’ I want to see checks with higher amounts’’
The US $908 billion stimulus package is expected to be announced earlier this week. US President Donald Trump said he was pushing for a stimulus package, although he did not pay close attention to the current talks.
In the United States, Democrat Senator Joe Manchin said that a group of Democrats and Republicans will announce a $908 billion coronavirus stimulus package earlier this week, but it is “not guaranteed” that the package will pass Congress.
Democratic and Republican MPs participating in the talks have previously reported that they have completed details on support for small companies, vaccine distribution funding and other key issues. One of the main issues that blocked the talks is the issue of protecting employers from pandemic lawsuits, demanded by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
In an interview recorded on Saturday, Trump told “Fox and Friends”, “I want to see checks with higher amounts going to our people than we are talking about right now.” Manchin, on the other hand, said that sending encouragement checks to Americans, regardless of whether they need it or not, was a “bad idea” on the last aid round.
“The plan is alive and well,” says Manchin. “There is no way we can leave Washington without meeting the urgent needs of our people. There are 535 people to vote. I cannot guarantee that all of them will vote for it and it will pass. ‘’
“Everybody’s not going to get what they want – we can get something we could all live with. But we’re putting a product forward, it’s going to go forward with both, with everything,” he said. “Hopefully in it, you’ll see a complete bill tomorrow before the end of the day. Then you can choose if you like it or not – vote for it or vote against it.’’
