Shares in Asia-Pacific fell sharply on Monday as dangerous weather continued to weigh on markets.
The Nikkei 225 fell 1.97 percent in early trading in Japan, and Topix fell 2 percent. South Korea’s Kospi lost 2.3 percent, and the Kosdaq tumbled 3.12 percent.
In Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 fell 1.94 percent. MSCI’s most extensive index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan fell 1.19 percent.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index gained 0.38 percent as the Hang Seng Tech Index caught the trend and rose 2.45 percent. In mainland China, Shanghai Compound rose 0.3 percent, and Shenzhen Component rose 1 percent.
The Reserve Bank of India’s monetary policy committee is scheduled to meet this week, and China is expected to release data on factory activity by the end of the week.
Onewo, a subsidiary of real estate developer China Vanke, will also launch on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange this week.
