British Finance Minister Rishi Sunak and Health Minister Sajid Javid have announced that they have resigned from their government posts.
In the letter he shared on Twitter, Javid stated that he could no longer conscientiously continue his duty and resigned from his post because he did not trust British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Stating that he met with Johnson to submit his resignation, Javid said, “It was a great privilege to serve in this position, but I would like to say with regret that I can no longer continue with a clear conscience.”
Shortly after Javid announced his resignation, Sunak also announced his resignation in a post on Twitter. “The people expect the government to be run properly, competently, and seriously. I realize this may be my last ministerial post, but I believe these standards are worth fighting for, and that’s why I’m resigning.” he said.
