The US State Department stated that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accepted the meeting request of his US counterpart, Antony Blinken.
US State Department Spokesperson Ned Price announced that Foreign Minister Antony Blinken’s request for a meeting received a positive response from his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov. The two will meet in Europe towards the end of next week.
Making a statement on the subject on his Twitter account, Price used the following statements:
“Minister Blinken, in his speech at the United Nations Security Council during the day, stated that he offered to meet with Foreign Minister Lavrov in Europe next week, as we believe that the only responsible way to resolve this crisis is diplomacy and dialogue.”
The spokesperson stated that the United States will continue to coordinate with its allies and partners and press for greater engagement on Russia through platforms such as the NATO-Russia Council, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
